Audax - A 212km route starting and finishing in Aberystwyth

Audax - General Details - Sat 18th May 2019

A new event for 2019 and one which will be the first of AberCycleFest 2019. A 212km route starting and finishing in Aberystwyth. Riders will ride an anti- clockwise loop visiting commercial controls at Crossgates, Newtown & Tywyn. There will be basic catering at the start/finish.

This will use the route of the ‘Taith Mynydd Canolbarth Cymru 200’ but in reverse. This route will form part of the Aber Cycle Fest and takes place at the start of the 9 day celebration. Why not make a break of it…

Our organiser is experienced local ‘audaxer’ Andy Cox ( and entry is only £5 (+ £3 temporary insurance for non-AUK or Cycling UK members).

If you haven’t ridden an Audax event before there are a few things worth bearing in mind.  There is a lot of emphasis on self-sufficiency, so you should carry your own basic tools and spares.  For more serious issues, if you need to quit during the ride you’ll need to make your own way home.  It is therefore worth noting where nearby railway stations are or thinking about who you might call for a lift home.

The event is in association with Afan Outdoor Leisure where the event will start and finish controls and the catering.

Closing date for entries is 13th May.

The total elevation for the course is 2800 metres and the full course details can be found here
